Why the Windows Registry is a serious privacy riskMany once thought, that the Windows Registry was simply a central database for Windows to store and maintain the Operating System configuration information only. Well, this is not completely accurate! The Registry also maintains a bunch of other history, copied and recorded data that has little or nothing to do with the system configuration itself. We won't outline everything here, but for one, all your Typed URLs in the browser are stored in the Registry. These Typed URLs come from your browsers auto complete feature of the Address Bar. It records all URLs that you've manually typed, in order to save you some time filling out the address field all over again. This works by starting to type in "ama" and then the auto complete feature may bring up "amazon.com" for you. Although some find this annoying, people may prefer this feature. One thing is for sure however -- it's an obvious privacy risk! You wouldn't want a family member, or a guest using your PC, to type in "ama", and instead, have it auto complete "amaturemudwrestlers.com" now would you? So Typed URL's are one of many such potential privacy risks, that are being stored, right now, in your Windows Registry database. But, if you wanted to delete, or even destroy these hidden activity records, you would not be able to do so. You can not delete these, and many similar history files found in the Registry and elsewhere, because they have been automatically locked by Windows on your computer, and are being stored permanently on your hard drive! The fact is, you simply can not do manually, what Evidence Eliminator is able to do automatically for you, because there are hundreds of these types of files that have been locked or secretly hidden by Windows. And even if you could, as some may already know, deleting files through Windows, does not actually destroy or erase them from your hard drive. Windows only deletes it's references to such files. So be aware; Deleted files are in fact still sitting there on your Hard Drive, and could easily be recovered by anyone with access to your computer, in person or by being hacked when online.
WINDOWS REGISTRY... The hard privacy facts:Microsoft Windows, runs with literally hundreds of secret folders and locked data files that operate, in conjunction with the Registry, to maintain a huge database of detailed history records. Records you may not wish to be accidentally uncovered, by co-workers, friends, or family members. These history records are in fact, both a blessing and a curse. They are a blessing, because they do provide fast and convenient shortcuts, such as recalling typed web addresses. But, they are also a curse, because this also means your privacy is at severe risk, unless you do something about it. The Registry is like the master controller of the entire computer system you use. Nothing happens without the Registry. Maybe you've seen information about how worm viruses, trojans, keylogger, and advertising spyware install themselves into a computer system? This always involves creating many new Registry inputs, and then installing various malicious files throughout the Windows Operating system. Well that's how practically everything happens on your computer, no matter what programs you are using. Log files, entry files, copies of records and extra copies of files, and so on it goes. Imagine for a moment if when you were online, you accidentally downloaded or viewed an obscene or potentially illegal file or website. Simply deleting such files or web page through Internet Explorer or Netscape, will not protect you. Neither will most of the secure hard disk drive eraser tools now on the market protect you, because may be detailed evidence about that file, or web address, immediately recorded elsewhere in Windows. Yes, some hard disc cleaners might be able to "securely erase" the newsgroup folder or the Internet cache folders, but very few can effectively get deep down into all the locked and hidden Windows folders. And none, except Evidence Eliminator, are capable of securely cleaning or erasing all the Registry data, in particular. If the Registry or either the system.dat & the user.dat files [which are two key components of the Windows 95/98/ME Registry] are totally erased indiscriminately, then your computer simply will not work anymore, and will need to be fully reinstalled from scratch. However, Evidence Eliminator is the ONLY security program I am aware of, that has tackled this problem, and solved it incredibly well. Evidence Eliminator™ does two things, that no other eraser program does. It utilizes Microsoft's free RegClean.exe utility to repair registry errors within it's advanced secure cleaning processes, secondly defragments [defrag] and re-compresses the entire Registry, destroying all unnecessary history records in the process. This completely erases all historical records of past computer use, and all the traces of information about other securely erased or destroyed files. Cleaning out the Registry in this way, also improves overall operating system speed and performance, which further helps your computer to run faster, and more reliably over time. In fact, Evidence Eliminator™ is capable of doing so much, that it is possible to restore your system to a point where, it is like a new system installation........ bar those installed programs and files YOU have actually chosen to keep! No other similar program in the market, comes close to the advanced performance and reliability of Evidence Eliminator. When it comes to tuning up your computer system, and protecting confidential material & your personal privacy from dubious snoops, Evidence Eliminator is the Original and still the Best!
